Mljet Island also known as the "Green Island" is located on the southern Croatian, 30 km northwest of Dubrovnik city. Mljet is famous for its legends and stories, as a refuge for the Mediterranean monk seal and its rich history. In the western part of Mljet is National Park. Mljet National Park boasts two salt lakes great and small(Veliko i Malo jezero), that are connected with the open sea with narrow straits. In the midst of the Great Lake is a small islet of Sv. Mary, on which there is a Benedictine monastery from the 12th St.

Arriving on the Mljet island

Dubrovnik and Mljet are connected with daily ferry line. Timetables can be found at Jadrolinija. The journey takes 2 hours and 30 minutes.

From Dubrovnik to Mljet, you can also take the hydrofoil "Nona Ana" which sails into the port Sobra and during the summer port Polače also, which is located near the National Park Mljet.
